Cliff Burton (1962–1986) was Metallica's iconic bassist. He transformed heavy metal music with his revolutionary "lead bass" style, blending classical music theory, heavy distortion, and wah-wah effects. He performed on the legendary albums Kill 'Em All, Ride the Lightning, and Master of Puppets. Tragically, he died at 24 in a 1986 tour bus crash and was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame in 2009.
